State Species of Special Concern. Found in dry semi-open habitat with sandy soils throughout Santa Barbara County. Collins (1983) describes this subspecies as rare or extirpated locally and there are no records within the Goleta Slough Ecosystem.

Southwestern Pond Turtle Clemmys marmorata pallida
State Species of Special Concern. Found in permanent and intermittent aquatic primarily in freshwater. Occurs in Atascadero Creek (Ferren and Smith. 1982. Santa Barbara County Flood Control 1994).
