Locally rare. Inhabits upper salt marsh, saline mudflat communities. Reaches northern limit at Goleta Slough (Nagano 1983).

Monarch Butterfly Danaus plexippus
Locally rare. Overwinters in eucalyptus woodland in several locations along Santa Barbara South Coast. Known aggregation sites within the Ecosystem occur in eucalyptus groves at the west branch of Carneros Creek at Los Carneros and Calle Real and along Atascadero Creek north of the Southern California Gas Company facilities.
